- Do you have difficulty passing stools?
- Painful periods?
- Bloated stomach/gas?
Then Apana Mudra could be just the thing for you!
It is a simple hand gesture within Ayurveda and the yoga tradition that activates the downward-flowing energy in the body, Apana Vayu, which is responsible for, among other things:
- bowel evacuation
- Urination
- menstrual flow
- Childbirth
- Energetic cleansing
By strengthening this energy, you can balance the body and reduce:
- Constipation
- Period pain
- Vata imbalance (too much air and space in the system)
How to do Apana Mudra:
- Sit comfortably with a straight back
- Place the tips of your thumb, middle finger and ring finger together
- Keep your index and little fingers straight
- Rest your hands on your knees with your palms facing upwards
Hold for 5 to 45 minutes, every day if you like.
This helps the body let go, both literally and symbolically.
Perfect for stress, energy peaks and troughs, difficulty focusing or when the body feels overwhelmed.
Let's restore our energy, one mudra at a time.
