My teacher used to say that the most potent of all herbs is hot water, and the longer I walk this path, the more I understand the wisdom in it.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Sipping hot water throughout the day is not just a habit, it is a form of alchemical purification. A subtle medicine. An everyday ritual that profoundly affects the balance of the doshas, agni (digestive fire) and ama (toxins).<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><strong>What does hot water actually do?<\/strong><\/div>\n<div class=\"x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\">\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"auto\">Stimulates agni without overstimulating \u2013 like gently blowing on the embers<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">Helps the body to digest and transport out ama (waste products)<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">Pacifies Vata, balances Kapha, and with the right additives can also support Pitta<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">Hydrates without putting out the fire (like cold water can do)<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">Bring the body back to rhythm, to flow, to subtle presence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><strong>Additives that intensify the effect:<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\">\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"auto\">Cinnamon + lime: balances Vata &amp; Kapha, increases circulation, awakens sweet and sour prana<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">A pinch of sea salt or rock salt: grounds Vata, stimulates mineral absorption, supports electrolytes\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Fresh ginger: stokes agni, perfect for stagnation<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Fennel: cooling and balancing, especially for Pitta<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Coriander seeds: cleanse the liver, support the urinary tract, especially for Pitta and Kapha<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Ajwain \u2013 or alternatively bishop's weed (black cumin): traditionally used to strengthen digestive fire, relieve gas and stagnation<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><strong>How?<\/strong><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Boil water (ideally for 10\u201315 minutes if you want to give it \u201clife\u201d). Keep it warm in a thermos flask. Sip every 20\u201330 minutes, as though tending an inner fire. Feel how the body begins to respond. Softly. Subtly.
